Apply to be a Buddy today!

01 Buddy up with... lawyers!

Are you an aspiring lawyer who needs advice on the application process for a vacation scheme, training contract or pupillage? Or would you like to simply understand more about the field more generally? Here's a chance for you to talk to someone who has successfully gone through the process.

Are you a future/current trainee solicitor, pupil or qualified lawyer? If you have experience in applications or other expertise, do feel free to share with those who would like to go down the same route.

LEGAL EDITION

WhO are we?

Are you a student with burning questions regarding your future career? Our initiative aims to link students ('Child Buddies') up with those working in various industries ('Parent Buddies'). Matched Buddies can then have a one-off conversation through video call, where Child Buddies can ask any questions they may have regarding their preferred industry.

Child Buddies: students who may have questions or doubts regarding their future careers.

Are you someone who has secured an offer to work or already have a career? If you're willing to spare some time to help students who may want to enter the same industry, do consider joining us as a Parent Buddy to give advice to students through one-off career chats.

Parent Buddies: those who have experience in the job application process (e.g. future trainees) OR are already working in their respective industries.

WHO ARE WE

02 How are we different?

1. FLEXIBLE COMMITMENT LEVELS
We understand that joining a long-term mentorship programme may require a lot of commitment, hence we are offering one-off calls to answer all questions.
Child Buddies: Child Buddies can simply hop on a one-off call with a Parent Buddy to have a coffee chat.
Parent Buddies: Parent Buddies can choose their level of commitment. They can be paired with a Child Buddy on a one-off, weekly, bi-weekly or monthly basis.

2. PRIORITISING THOSE FROM LOW-INCOME BACKGROUNDS AND MINORITY GROUPS
Student Buddies from low-income backgrounds and/or minority groups such as BAME or the LGBTQ+ community are prioritised in pairings. Their preferences will also be placed first.

3. TAKING YOUR PREFERENCES INTO ACCOUNT
We strive to accommodate any reasonable special requests. For instance, if you would like to be paired with someone who completed a similar degree as you, we will try our best to make that happen.

4. PROVIDING PROMPTS
Do you want to know more about a career path but are not sure what to ask? We've got you covered! Once you have been paired up with a buddy, we will send you prompts and potential questions you can ask your Parent Buddy.

03 How does it work?
